Pillar 5 · Focus area 1 of 2

Security & Privacy

Assess whether there are obvious security or privacy gaps, missing evidence or known issues that are likely to surface during diligence and should be addressed or referred beforehand.

This focus area belongs to the Coppice Labs Audit for digital-product exit readiness. It sits within Foundational Readiness, Pillar 5 of 5.

Why it matters

Security and privacy questions can create avoidable friction during diligence when expected evidence is missing or known issues have not been dealt with. Identifying these early gives the company an opportunity to improve its readiness or obtain appropriate specialist support.

The conclusion we need

Determine whether the company understands and can credibly evidence the product's material security and privacy position well enough to identify and address, explain or refer any obvious data-handling gaps, missing evidence, known issues or unsupported claims likely to surface during a raise or exit, without treating the assessment as a security audit, privacy compliance review or legal conclusion.

What we examine

The questions we will answer

  1. How does the product handle customer, personal, confidential and proprietary data?
  2. What security and privacy safeguards and supporting evidence are in place for the product?
  3. What known security or privacy issues, incidents or unsupported claims could surface during diligence?
