Pillar 2 · Focus area 3 of 3

Technical Health

Assess whether the technology is sufficiently robust, maintainable and scalable to support continued product development and business growth without creating material risk, disproportionate cost or friction.

This focus area belongs to the Coppice Labs Audit for digital-product exit readiness. It sits within Future Growth, Pillar 2 of 5.

Why it matters

A product can perform well today while concealing technical weaknesses that make future change, operation or growth increasingly difficult. Understanding maintainability, reliability and scaling constraints helps reveal whether the technology will support or undermine the next stage of the product.

The conclusion we need

Determine whether the technology can support continued product change, reliable operation and expected growth without material hidden constraints, disproportionate technical cost or unmanaged operational dependency, based on evidence proportionate to the product, stage and transaction story.

What we examine

The questions we will answer

  1. How does the technology's current structure affect the company's ability to change the product safely and efficiently?
  2. How reliably does the product operate for customers, and how are material failures detected, handled and learned from?
  3. What technical constraints would emerge as usage, data volume or product complexity grows, and how well evidenced is the plan to address them?
  4. Which technical dependencies could materially disrupt the product's operation or constrain future change and scale, and how are they managed?
